First, natural medicine doctors are called Naturopaths. Naturopaths were considered primary doctors prior to 1960. Naturopaths must complete a Bachelors in Science degree with pre-med level classes to get into a naturopathic college. Then they continue with 4 years of naturopathic college, which is the equivalent of medical school, to receive an accredited doctorate in naturopathic medicine. During this time, naturopaths do clinic shifts for two of the years under the supervision of a licensed naturopath and two years of seeing patients as a primary doctor.
Natural Medicine differs from Western Medical, in two important points: First, find the cause of the symptoms (not label the symptom(s) as a disease) and second, use the least invasive treatment first, and if the cause cannot be eliminated using various natural remedies, then the patient can be referred to a medical doctor for pharmaceuticals and/or surgery. However, only when natural means have been exhausted, the patient would be referred to a medical doctor.
All naturopaths are trained in traditional clinical diagnostics, however, the naturopath may obtain other skills outside of naturopathic college.
Some of the traditional diagnostics would be to run bloodwork, taking a history from the patient, examining the patient, performing differential physical tests, etc. Traditional therapies would include western herbs, nutrition plans, exercises, lifestyle changes, hydrotherapy etc.
In addition to the traditional diagnostics and therapies of a naturopath, Dr. Dogan has received outside certification in Wilson's Temperature Syndrome, iridology, sound frequency, emotional healing, exercise trainer, using food as medicine , cranial fluid dynamics, vaccine alternatives and more.
